Heart de Roommate. Only works with the crack. Crash with the original exe.

Crescendo.  I get errors every time the voices are supposed to sound. Rather annoying but playable if desperate.

Sengoku Rance. Only with local Japanese settings.

Princess Waltz. In older versions of Wine This had a annoying thing. After a battle the screen went black, so you needed to quicksave in a “black screen” and quit the game and reload to continue. At least that way worked for me. The version 1.1.38 didn’t have this error.

Do you like horny bunnies? I -> The installer don’t work, so I copied the contents of the cd. It worked, but only one file of voices could be heard. Playing without voices is an option.

One, haven’t finish this one, but the first part worked.

Games that didn’t work for me .

Kana little sister, failed the installer, tried to copy the files, failed in the register.

Secret wives club, Good installer, failed to play the game, error at the start.

Chaos;Head, the same, the installer works fine, but the game crashes.

Note: The versions of wine that I used are mixed, some of the games were played and installed from 1.1.14 .16 .17 .25 .26 .33 .38, mostly .14 was used.

Also, the videos (.avi or similar) don’t work with wine, so you will get an error, note that I haven’t installled any winetricks.

For start I use Gentoo, and the Wine version utilized was wine-1.1.16 and Almost all of my solutions to the problems that I faced were workarounds, so there will be no pretty solutions xD and if you don’t understand my english well… can’t help with that.

Things you will need. A Linux Distro, Wine, Japanese fonts, Atlas and AGTH.

1.- First Install the Local for Japanese, the UTF-8

For this at least in Gentoo, is to remove the # in the Ja_jp options in /etc/locale.gen and then run the locale.gen, for other distros google how to do it.

2.- If you don’t have Japanese fonts, you need to install at least one, mikachan, vlgothic or any other

3.- You need to get the AGTH and the Atlas. For this, check

or Hongfire.

4.- Install Atlas. I didn’t get any errors so just use the terminal.

5.- Add words to Atlas or the dictionary of fhc.

LC_ALL=ja_JP.UTF-8 wine Quickatlas.exe

And follow the instruccions of fhc to merge the dictionary.

If like me you don’t get any icons in the Atlas Main window, just run AtlDcCmb.exe and merge it in there.

6.- Install the VN, there are some VNs that doesn’t work with wine [Like Chaos;Head]

so install it with the japanese locals

LC_ALL=ja_JP.UTF-8 wine install.exe or setup.exe or whatever.exe

7.- Now run the game exe with the LC_ALL=ja_JP.UTF-8 maybe the game doesn’t run with wine so check if it works without the agth.

8.- For simplicity reasons, copy de agth.exe y agth.dll to the game folder or create symlink for them.

9.- now run wineconsole with the LC_ALL=ja_JP.UTF-8 if you get a font error, well, me too!, I just do this cuz i don’t know how too fix it (I tried over 9000 fonts), so if you don’t get it, tell me what fonts do you have.

10.- but don’t panic, there is a way to workaround this.

in the terminal go to the game folder, from here, run the cmd.exe in the system32 carpet of the wine folder.

LC_ALL=ja_JP.UTF-8 wine $HOME/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/cmd.exe

this will get you in the cmd terminal.

11.- and Finally, as you were in the game folder just type

C:\PATH\TO\GAME\agth.exe /C game.exe

this will get you run the game and the agth altogether.

12.- There are some things left to say.

If you get an error when atlas is trying to translate the text copy in the clipboard.

run quickatlas without the japanese settings, this will correct that error, but instead of the japanese fonts in the left/up side of the atlas translations you will see weird characters, Atlas will translate anyway.

Other things, Atlas is no a definitive translator, in reality it kinda sucks. but if you don’t know any japanese and you HAVE to play some games, it will worth the problem.

For games that work with Wine check the http://appdb.winehq.org/ at least you will have some reference.
